In the 20th century, May Day received the official endorsement of the Soviet Union; celebrations in communist countries during the Cold War era often consisted of large military parades and shows of common people in support of the government.
So in Poland we had a celebration as well. At our University, after the last April weekend, we had all three days free. We spent a great time, moving from place to place, eating, drinking and so on... just waiting for the sun, as it was raining, as usual in Poland at this time.
